“Straight up Sony receiver from 1995. Nothing fancy, no flashing lights or dancing EQ. Simple layout, sleek buttons - all blacked out. One red LED for the volume control. Very understated. And clean! Wow lots of soundstage, excellent bass response, mid-range. Trebless are not sharp or annoying - not fatiguing. Simple to connect up speakers and external components. Not many inputs - you get all the necessaries - CD, two videos, tuner, tape and yes, a phono - very important. Two speaker outs - A and B and plenty of power at 70W per channel. With discrete power transistors. This is a great system to power a set of nearfield speakers, or in a small to mid-sized room as a solid two channel performer or even as a phono pre-amp. I love the subtle looks and how pure the sound is. Very listenable.
