MARANTZ CDR-630 Professional CD-Recorder + CD-Player

Marantz CDR 630 Pro/Studio CD Recorder/Player, Manual and un0used CDRs.

This is a professional quality studio standard CD recorder/player. It has been used for a time in my home studio but mostly in a domestic hi-fi set up for the last few years. It has mostly been used for CD playback and for recording vinyl to CD. It is in excellent physical and electronic condition and I have experienced no performance issues other than simple and routine maintenance.

The unit was well engineered to start with and has only a couple of very minor scratches on the top of the casing. I bought it used (2 years uld) in 2000. The only maintenance required has been to use a proprietary laser lens cleaner and to open up the lid to clean the input level control with switch cleaner. (It had become crackly).The CD 630 works perfectly and a recent service diagnostic showed no issues (See “Passed” photo).

I have included a user manual and the service manual is easily available online if required.

The unit has balanced and un-balanced analogue inputs on XLR and RCA/phono and analogue out on RCA/Phono. Digital inputs and outputs are on optical and co-axial.

The inputs can be set to -10dBu (domestic) and +4dBu (Pro) standards.

Frequency response is 20- 20khz and the unit will accept digital inputs between 32-48khz. Recorded CDs are at the usual 44.1 khz, 16 bit.

The recorder is simple and intuitive to use and produces excellent quality recordings. Playback quality is excellent also – using both analogue and digital outputs.

The recorder uses the older audio CDR discs – 74 min, 650mb slower speed 1-12x. It will also record to slow speed 74 minute CDRW.

I haven’t had a particular problem picking these up online or on Ebay.

I will include the 74 minute discs I have – 23 HHB and 5 BASF which have worked very well and which I now have no use for.

The Marantz will play back any audio CD without problem.

The only minor fault I am aware of is that the remote, although it works well in all other respects, won’t scroll/fast forward while a track is playing. It will move back and forward between tracks without problem. This never particularly bothered me so I never bothered replacing the remote.

Overall, this has been, and is, an excellent recorder player but I now have up-graded my hi-fi and master recordings to computer and so it is now redundant. It will be well packed and shipped by Parcel Force 48 (UK) or Parcel Force Global priority (Europe).
