Arts & Crafts octagonal copper coffee table with fire pit, 1900's ca, England. This reinterpretation of the Eastern fire pit table would have been used for coals or incense. The form and materials are characteristic of the period's romantically bohemian style. Quality copper has been hand shaped around a wooden octagonal frame. The decorative silver & gold colour metal studs give texture and depth. The square legs are in solid oak and held together with an iron frame. There is a circular central space with a diameter of 31 cm to insert a fire pit. The overall design goes well with the industrial look fashionable today. Very solid and in good condition. Only two minor dents to the top's edge. Great antique patina giving lots of character.
