Born in Fujian Province in 1982, Wu Liang Yan has exhibited in China and France with his solo exhibition being held in Beijing 789 in 2009. He explores his art through the caricature of a child whose body is enlarged or misshapen, or a child who is dragging a huge school bag representing the weight of his burdens.

Wu Liangyan shows the antagonism that can be witnessed between education and the baggage of expectations that has developed with it. Parents see their children's results as a reflection of their own capabilities and blindly push their children to succeed. However, that this creates a burden beyond that of just excelling in education is lost on the adults who enforce this.
